Bio

Kevin Sweeney was selected in the fall of 2023 to lead the the Men's and Women's Cross Country program at Montcalm Community College.  Kevin has served as an assistant coach at White Cloud High School and Grant High School, had been involved with the Rockford High School Cross Country program for several years, and has hosted several road races including the Centurion 5K, Marshall Run, Newaygo County Kids Triathlon, Bailey's Doggie Dash and the Rockford Area Kids Triathlon.  

Kevin began his undergraduate studies at Lansing Community College. He is a graduate of Lansing Community College (General Associates,1993) and Michigan State University (1995, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering; 2016 Master of Social Science, Criminal Justice).  

Kevin's athletic accomplishments include helping to lead Lansing Community College to three national titles in Men's Cross Country (1991 & 1992) and the Men's Marathon Team Championships (1992). While at LCC he was a two time All-American in Men's Cross Country (1991 & 1992) and was the Men's Marathon Individual National Champion (1992). While at MSU, Kevin co-captained the Men's Cross Country team (1994), earned Academic All Big Ten Honors (1994) and received the teams Leadership Award (1993).  Kevin has continued to be involved with running through his adult life, completing numerous marathons and several Ironman's.

Kevin currently serves as an adjunct professor and is the program coordinator for criminal justice at MCC.  Kevin works full time for the Michigan State Police, serving as the commander of the Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division, and the Deputy State Director of Emergency Management.  

Kevin currently lives in Rockford with his wife Teri, and has four adult children.
