Bio

Hunter Redman will lead Montcalm Community College’s Athletics Program as its first Athletic Director, since 1980. Hunter, of White Cloud, has served as MCC’s Auxiliary Services Coordinator in the Recreation Department, since 2021. Hunter brings experience as a collegiate coach, health and physical education teacher, and former collegiate athlete.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Communication with a minor in Leadership and Project Management from Ferris State University in 2017, where he also was a member of the track team (2013-2017) and took an internship within the track & field program at Ferris State and worked under the head coach. Redman continued his education at Bluffton University in Ohio, where he earned a Master of Business Administration in Leadership while serving as a Graduate Assistant Coach for Track & Field and Cross Country (2017-2019).

Redman's career path was shaped through his experiences at Ferris State and Bluffton. Wanting to be a coach, Redman later shifted his aspirations from being a coach, to work as an administrator within athletics to be more directly involved with giving all student-athletes equal experiences, no matter the program they are participating in. He would share his experiences, both negative and positive, as an athlete and college student to his athletes to help them have a better experience than what he went through in his early years in athletics.

Redman and his team are working to build programs in men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross-country, men’s and women’s bowling, clay target shooting, men’s golf and women’s volleyball. As a department, they work to shape the culture to be student-athlete centered, to have all efforts focused to create a more positive experience for the athletes and to present more opportunities to further benefit their future.

Redman currently resides in Sheridan with his wife Rachel and their white pug Opal.
